Favourite Drugstore Lipstick!

Hey guys, today I'm going to write about my favourite drugstore lipstick! It's always good to have a favourite drugstore lipstick purely because I'm the sort of person who uses it so much and tops up alot through-out the day. Meaning I use my product quite quickly to be paying out for high end every time!

Okay, so my favourite drug store lipstick is .....
Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick
The price of these is £7.99 which is a steal to say how much these stay on!

These in my opinion are a very opaque lip colour with a beautiful range of colours!
2 of my favourite colours being - Pink Brandy and Bewitching Coral.
Pink Brandy is a lovely pink which is a natural looking shade that can be built up too, Bewitching Coral is a pop of bright pink which is in your face but looks lovely!
They last forever too, I top up product but the colour of it does stay on, for instance on New Years Eve I wore Bewitching Coral out and when I got home (slightly intoxicated by alcohol) lol, I took all my make-up off and forgot to take my lipstick off because it doesn't feel heavy and I kinda forgot I had it on.. So anyway I woke up the next day with bright pink lips! So staying power is great!
When these lipsticks are built up they become shiny and rather creamy but if it's just one layer it's not too in your face, which is good!

Follow us on twitter @scoshgirls and let us know you're favourite lipstick!! x

January blues // take two

The other day I posted a rather philosophical blog about dealing with January Blues and so I decided that I would do a 'take two' only this time showing you some of the things I have seen this January that are, you have guessed it, blue! (I impress myself with how imaginative I am haha). I even found an app to make a cute little collage which, if you know me, you know is a massive step as I am a huge technophobe!

First up is a blue eye liner which all of the celebrities were trying out at the end of last year! This is perhaps not an everyday look but with the right outfit I think this makes for a really different party look! I think I will go for a liquid or a gel when I finally brave it as pencil tends to pull on my eye lid which doesn't give it as even a finish.
Then I found a really cute pair of heeled brogues.  A such a sucker for heels but I tend to just go for black but these are adorable and will be great for sixth form!
A classic, simply dress in blue is a great alternative to the classic 'little black dress' and adds a splash of colour to your wardrobe.
Now, I would like to to pause for a moment to appreciate the beauty of these shorts! Done? Okay, good. I know I have missed the party season and these just scream 'wear me over Christmas' BUT they are lovely and would be great for parties all year round... This is me trying to justify purchasing a pair of these haha. The bad news is I can't find where these are from so I am going to have to raid meadowhall this weekend to try and find something similar. If you guys have any suggestions please let me know! :D

Finally.. (This deserves a separate paragraph it is so important) the Sherlock box set.  If you follow my personal twitter you will know how much of a super fan girl I am of this show. I absolutely love it and no man will ever match up to Sherlock Holmes but I have never got round to purchasing the box set. Now the whole fandom is back in the painful, never ending abyss on an hiatus I think I should probably get myself it just to satisfy my cravings haha :p

So there you have it, my 'January blues'. This post has been very short and sweet so I apologise but I hope you found it slightly less depressing than the first January Blues post haha.

Hope you are all okay! One more day until the weekend when Scosh girls are planning new posts, giveaways and tags so keep your eyes pealed :)

January blues!

I have been back at sixth form two weeks now and have managed to limit myself to only one break down so far which is good haha! Everyone seems to be really down at the minute with everything and on the verge on giving up with it all so I thought I would do a post for anyone out there who is suffering with January Blues :D

This was inspired partly by the fact my history teacher asked me 'if I could do a thirty second speech to the whole world, what would it be?' It was a really you question but I think I have decided. (Yes, I know this isn't technically a speech or to the whole world but let's just go with it haha)

I want to start of by saying whatever you are doing never ever ever give up! If you want something you are going to have to work hard for it and on the way there will be blood, sweat and tears (hopefully not blood but I thought it was an appropriate time to whip out this cliche). I am finding sixth form a lot of hard work but to go on to do what I want to do I need to come out with good grades so, hopefully, all the hard work will be worth it. If you have something that you want to do or that makes you happy don't just drop it because you are bored or you 'give up' because then you are failing by default. I must send off nearly 50 emails every weekend to agencies and so far I have had nearly 50 rejections every weekend but if I stop now all that time I spent putting into it will go to waste and I will never get accepted by any. Acting is my dream so I have to work for it. Whatever your dream is, you too will have to work for it. All this staying positive and working hard is easy said than done and I completely appreciate that but... (Morbid, cliches quotes coming up: BEWARE) you do only live once and so do stuff that makes you happy, try out new things and take risks! You never know what could happen. Yes, you might get rejected. What have you lost? If it is school work that is getting you down think about where you will be when it is all done and think about how much you will thank yourself in the future for picking up a pen now and doing some extra work. Life's too short to get yourself down and although horrendous things happen every day, beautiful things happen as well and if you focus on them and have a positive out look on life I guarantee your life will get better :)

My teacher once suggested writing down a list of things every day you are grateful for or doing something to help another person everyday. I know these seem like silly little things primary school teacher still you to do but they actually do work! When I am feeling down I like to write myself a plan and get all my thoughts in order. That way I can see a clear aim written down and ways I am going to achieve it.

I hope that this post has at least made you think a little bit and if you have stopped reading by this point I certainly don't blame you haha but if you are still here first up, thank you and secondly stay positive and make 2014 the best one yet!

(A very philosophical) Jamie xx

Favourite Make-up Look / 1

Hey guys today I'm just going to be writing a post based on one of my favourite make-up looks! :-)

Primer - I used Rimmel Match Perfection primer. This is lovely and glides on great!

Foundation - Boujois Happy Light foundation! This is a pink ish foundation which can make me look slightly orange! But the coverage is great and I really like how it looks!Li

Concealer - WHOLY GRAIL concealer being Collection! This is everything you need in life, it's such a good coverup and it is sooooo cheap!!

Powder - No7 Creme Touch, I have like 4 of these backed up because I love this! It stops your foundation looking shiny and I'd say it mattifies the look.

Eye shadow - I used Loreal Paris Colour Appeal solo eyeshadow. This is a gold colour which I absolutely love HOWEVER once this one has hit the pan I won't be re-purchasing due to Loreal testing on animals! So I will find one from a nice animal friendly brand!

Inner corner - I used a jumbo Collection pencil which is a very light colour to highlight the corner to make me look more awake!

Eyeliner - Rimmel Glam Eyes liquid liner, this is a really really good cheap eyeliner, only trouble is you have to make sure theres only the tiniest bit on the applicator otherwise BOOM panda!!

Mascara - Max Factor Masterpeice mascara, this product is a beauty! It really does make my eyelashes spread out and look very lenghtened.

Lipstick - I used a Boujois lipliner which is just a bright red with a red lipstick (Label rubbed off so I cannot tell you where it's from plus it looks like it's from last decade!!) with a bit of vaseline to complete it! :D

Hope you liked this! :D

The Argan Company // argan oil review

I would like to introduce to guys to my new favourite product in the world!

I got sent this product about a week ago from The Argan Company (make sure you check the out here):

http://www.theargancompany.co.uk/

I had heard many great things about this product as so was so excited to give it a try for myself and I was not
disappointed!! It literally is 'liquid gold' and I don't know what I ever did without this product!

It has so many different uses and so, at £12.99 a bottle, is more than worth the money. On top of this a little
goes a very long way!!

First up I used this on my hair. As you guys know my hair goes ridiculously dry and horrible and so I
tried a little bit of this (just a pump) on my hair when it was wet and then brushed it in with my tangle
teezer and left it in. It made my hair so soft and shiny and, most importantly for me, it wasn't dry at all!
I then braved this product on my face. I was a little worried it would make my skin greasy and even more
spotty but it cleared up my spots in not time. My skin felt so much softer and had such a healthy glow to
it without looking greasy and horrible! :)
You can also use this product on your nails which I did. I applied it to my cuticles which it really softened. I
have yet to try some of the top tips that are in this pack but the fact it uses to words 'soak' and 'relax'
make it sound pretty good to me haha!
Finally I used this on my body as a moisturiser and also to try and get rid of scars. It seems to be having a similar
effect as bio-oil on my scars and stretch marks which is great and it has sorted out my dry elbows and knees.

You don't need to use a lot of this product for it to have an effect. If you use too much on your hair it
can make it a little greasy so make sure you don't go crazy. One pump is great!

I usually like to write a balanced review (that will be my A-Level History haha :p) but I can't think of any negative for this product. I absolutely love it and I understand why it has got such great reviews from everyone! I would definitely recommend you giving this product a go as it is worth every penny! You can order it online (I put their website just above) and you can tweet the company and let them know what you think of the products.

A massive thank you to 'The Argan Company' for sending such a brilliant product for us to try out.

Hope you guys are all okay!

Late night ramble named blah

Basically I'm sat here like your typical 17 year old girl over thinking absolutely bloody everything as I'm sure you all have done too.
And I got onto thinking some stuff from a while ago and realising I completely lost who I was during the time.
What I'm trying to say is don't, don't lose sight of who you are because you're you for a reason and that reason won't change....
When you're with people and suddenly you begin to be a "we" instead of "I" instead of you're own opinion it's everyone's, which probably isn't even close to yours at all just you feel you need to go along with it..
Or when it comes a boy and you don't see yourself alone as a person, you see yourself with him, and no matter what you do you can't seem to find yourself because you're so involved with these other people that you've completely lost yourself in the mix of it all.
Remember that you are always going to be alone at some point and you need to know who you are without these people around you influencing you.
Always remember who you are!

Sorry for the ramble lol but I needed to get this off my chest because I was thinking and thinking, and now I have wrote it and put it into words I feel a tiny wee bit better lol!
Overthinking - mission complete

Beverly Hills formula whitening tooth paste // black

We got send two tubes of the new Beverly Hills formula Black whitening tooth paste to try out and review. I know what you are thinking, a black tooth paste that makes your teeth white?! That is exactly what I thought when I first heard about this product but it is all very scientific! The activated charcoal helps to eliminate any bad bacteria and neutralise any odours... I know, snazzy!

So this is the product! Anyway, I have been using it twice a day for about a week now and I am pretty impressed. Although my teeth aren't loads whiter I can definitely see a difference and, after having a naughty curry and a glass of wine the other night (I know, both are horrible for my teeth. Slap my wrists haha), I could see a huge difference when I used this!

Along side it's whitening properties this tooth paste is great for keeping my mouth feeling fresh. This taste itself is not too minty but it leaves you feeling very fresh for most of the day :) as well as making sure your teeth look white and sparkly, you HAVE to make sure your tooth paste is looking after your teeth, which this one does! It has low abrasion and hydrated silica combined with the activated charcoal makes this tooth paste safe to use every day.

I would definitely recommend you trying this product and seeing if it works for you! Remember to check out Beverly Hills formula and look at their other products because I would highly recommend all the ones I have tried!

Hi guys, its Abbie!

I've used this for about a week ish and I love this toothpaste already!
It is a charcoal based toothpaste and it is black (clues in the name haha) the colour is like BAM, black toothpaste, never thought I would see that! My life is complete.
It's also minty, which is great! I do believe this improves the colour of your teeth aswell, my mum (who has also been using this) even said the next day about it with just a smile haha! I'd definitely definitely recommend this to anyone, it makes your teeth feel so clean aswell as improving the colour! So I'm definitely going to be purchasing this product once I have ran out!
A huge thank you to Beverly Hills Formula for sending us this product to try! :-)

There's a New Moss in town // Lottie Moss

As I was surfing the web instead of doing my work haha (story of my life) I came across some pretty exciting news happening within the modelling world!
At the legendary Kate Moss's wedding back in 2011 there was another beauty in the back ground..

This girl is Kate's half-sister, Lottie Moss and has just turned 16. She has just been signed to 'Storm models'.

At 5'5 she is quite small for a model but she looks incredible in her recent shoot and With her striking features, blonde hair, blue eyes and very successful sister, I predict big things for her! Good luck, Lottie :)

2014 Plans!

My post today is going to be on my 2014 plans!

Passing healthcare training - by the end of summer I really would like to of finished my healthcare training that I do for Boots. I am then a qualified Healthcare Advisor which I can then go onto dispensary training in the future. So far I have passed 3 out of 5 exams so leaving me 2 left to have passed by summer (hopefully)

Save money - 2013 has been a great year, except the fact I spent far too much money on things I maybe didn't need. I would really like to of saved more than I have spent by the end of 2014 and have the willpower to realise maybe I don't need 13 lipglosses in near enough the same shade...

Getting fit / healthy eating - I am determined to get abs and be fit. I want to work out everyday or week and get the outcome I'd like! I don't eat healthily because I purely don't like healthy food which is awful because I'd love to enjoy a salad. So I'm going to cut down on fatty foods and also look into healthy foods I would actually eat.

Find another job - I have worked for Boots for over a year now and I do like working for Boots, it is great! However in this day and age there's like not enough hours for a nearly 18 year old who needs her money! Lol, so yes I'd like to venture into something else too.

Positive thinking - this year is the year where things are changing hugely. So this year I want a positive outlook on everything no matter the problem, I'm one of those people who if I'm upset or angry I show it, I can't not. So this year I want to be able to be like Abbie look chill things are cool calm your ass down and don't worry! Go into things with an open mind!

Turning 18 - this isn't something I have planned... obviously but of course I need to write the fact APRIL 16th I'm turning 18! Wooo yeah!

More make-up - I'm hoping this year I go down the make-up road more. In 2013 I did pass my no7 badge which is awesome, I also did some events at bigger stores with some super cool no7 make-up women so this year I'm hoping more make-up involved things come my way!

Hope you all enjoyed this, if anyone else fancies writing one. Tweet us at @Scoshgirls so we can give it a read!! :-)

Q&A! :D

So, you guys have been sending us in lots of questions via email and twitter and we thought we'd answer some in a Q&A post! :-)
Abbie's answers are in blue / Jamie's answers are in pink.

Q1) What are your dream jobs?

My dream job would either be a freelance make-up artist (wouldn't mind working for mac or benefit though) or work for capital fm.

I have wanted to be an actress forever! I would also like to write plays :)

Q2) If you were only allowed to buy one make up brand for everything, which would it be and why?

Mac, without a doubt. They literally have the perfect products for everything!!

I am going to have to say Benefit. Most of my daily make up routine is made up of Benefit products. I am not a huge fan of their foundation but i couldn't live without the 'fake up', eye shadows and mascaras!

Q3) If you were stuck on a desert island what 3 make up products would you want with you?

Urm, foundation would be a must! Nars sheer glow to be precise. Eyeliner, because it's multifunctional- for example use this on your eyelashes (only on desert islands) and definitely a EOS lip balm!

ooh that is a tough one! I think I would take a foundation with some sort of sun protection in it to stop me getting sun burn. Then I would go for a mascara (probably an Estee Lauder one) and finally a baby lips lip gloss/balm to stop sore lips :D

Q4) What is a typical day for you?

Get up, go to work at Boots 8.30 until 5.30 where I am training in health care at the minute (2 more exams to go guys, woo), come home, eat everything in my view, shower then listen to my ipod..... The boring life I lead haha

I get up and catch the bus for school (at like 7:30). I then go to sixth form where I take English, History, Philosophy and Ethics and Biology. At lunch time I usually have drama rehearsals. I then go home and do my work, email agencies and then, sometimes go dancing and sometimes sit on the sofa and get fat haha :P

Q5) What sort of music do you like?

I like lots of different type of music... Ranging from Eminem, Kanye West to Sleeping with Sirens, YM@6, ATL, Blink 182 etc, ultimately the Vamps OFC.

Like Abbie, I like loads of different types of music! I like a bit of Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Scouting for girls and what not. My all time favourite is The Killers. I went to see them on their last tour and they were incredible :)

Q6) How would you describe yourself?

I'm stubborn. I'm quite strange and I do laugh at myself, so I'm either funny or losing the plot...

I talk way too much and have to loudest/ugliest laugh in the whole world. There is not much else to say.. :P

Q7) What would you say about each other?

Where do I start? Don't put Jamie in a social situation because she is major awkward and she'll point out the most random things I.E signs looking like tinsel haha. Courageous and very determined within what she wants to do.

Abbie is my guidance. Without her I would have no idea about how to act in social situations haha.. She is hilarious and gives great advice but is an absolute weirdo :P

Hope you guys have enjoyed reading this (please don't unfollow us, we are not total weirdos haha). If you have any questions tweet us and we will try our best to answer them!

Delicious and Nutritious // super exciting news!!

Hey guys! So after Christmas I always feel bloated and like I have gained about 17 stone (give or take a few pounds haha) so I like to eat lightly when I go back to sixth form to give my body a bit of a break!! :p

Today I had a minted bean salad and it was so yummy and decided to tell you all about it. It is so easy to make and surprisingly filling whilst also being really yummy!

All this is is a time of mixed beans (drained), cucumber, tomatoes and celery with mint sauce (from a jar), salt and pepper! I had a little bit for tea last night but today it tasted even better. I was inspired by 'Glamour magazines' top 50 foods to help encourage weight loss and get rid of bloating. They have some great foods on there and even some recipe ideas so if you are looking to tackle post-Christmas bulge, or just get a little bit healthier, I would have a look on there. One thing it doesn't mention though is water. Water is brilliant! I try to drink as much as possible. It keeps you feeling full and hydrated and works wonders on your skin and body! :D

Today has been my first day back which is not good BUT when I got home I had a surprise on the door. We have been sent products from 'Beverly Hills Formula' tooth paste company to review which is really exciting. Hopefully we will have to review up soon (I will start using it tomorrow) :) keep your eyes peeled on here and for any updates on twitter and make sure you don't miss it!!

Also, I hope you are all Sherlock fans!! (If not, you should be :p) after a 2 year wait I finally have my favourite high functioning sociopath back in my life. Absolutely love it, the episodes so far have been incredible! Sherlock (when played by Mr Cumberbatch of course haha) is my fictional character crush!

What is your favourite healthy snack? Who is your fictional character crush?

Real techniques // review

Hey guys! I feel like I haven't posted in ages. Today, I decided to write about my new favourite thing, my 'real techniques expert face brush'.

I am not going to lie, I have never been a brush person (I tend to just use my fingers) but so many people are raving about these brushes, I had to give one a go. I got myself the foundation brush from Boots for £9.99 which I didn't think was too bad considering the fact I also collect my points.
The brush itself is really firm and broad making it perfect for applying liquid foundation. It takes a little longer to apply than just using your fingers but the results are so much better. I use a sort of 'buffing' technique which gives a really good finish. The over all look created is a lot more natural and even. My only negative would be the fact I seem to have to use more foundation now I am using them. It isn't considerably more (2 big pumps instead on my usual 1).

It is a really good quality brush and none of the bristle have fallen out on me which most brushes do! I will definitely be getting myself some different sorts of these brushes. I know they do a really good set in boots (I think it is £21.99 but don't hold me to that haha) so I might treat myself!!

It is important with brushes that you make sure you wash the regularly. My friend suggested just using a baby shampoo and leaving them to dry which I think I will give a go in a week or so. If you have any real technique brushes, let us know! @scoshgirls

Also, exciting life news (well, exciting for me haha :p) I have applied to some more agencies and production companies today and, hopefully, I will get a reply soon! We will also soon be review some products from The Argan Company who have been kind enough to send us some of their products which is really exciting news :)

Hope the new year is treating you well!!

Products I would like to try this year!

'Urban decay Naked Palette'
I have read so many amazing reviews on the newest urban decay palette and they look amazing! I am a sucker for browns and golden shades which both 2 and 3 have. I think I will have to save my Christmas money and get one of these.

'Nars blusher (orgasm)'
This colour blusher is so lovely. It is more orangey than Nars 'pink swoon' so is more of a natural colour yet with tones of gold. I like my blushers to be shimmery rather than matt and I have heard great things about this product!

'MAC studio finish foundation'
As much as I love my high street Rimmel foundation for sixth form and everyday wear,  when I went round to Abbie's she introduced me to this and I love it! I don't have loads of MAC products but this foundation has great coverage and has been recommended to me by so many people so I think I will give it a go.

'MAC lipsticks'
One of my best friends and fellow beauty blogger, Jess, recommended these to me. She has herself a rather sizeable collection and the colours are all so lovely. They are creamy and go on really well! My next lipstick will definitely be one of these. I like darker colours like pinks and reds so if you guys have any suggestions of which ones would be good for me, let me know! :D

'Benefit brow zings'
I am nearly out of my Smashbox eye brow kit and, although I love it, I have wanted to try this product for ages. I think it is such a cute little kit and comes with handy tweezers which you can carry round in the kit!

What products do you want to try this year?

Soap and Glory Eyes Box // Review

Hey guys, hope you all had a great New Year! Today I'm going to review one of my favourite christmas presents!

The Soap and Glory Eyes Box

This is obviously by Soap and Glory and I got mine from Boots at I think £16.. As it was a present I'm not definite!
Contents:
Thick and Fast super volume mascara
6 Lid Stuff eye shadows in shades - Vanilla, wild Blue, Smokin', Minky, dandy Plum and black gold.
Smoulder kohl waterproof liner
Double ended eyeshadow brush
Has a mirror on the lid which is handy for travelling!

The mascara is a fast selling mascara which I don't find that great, to me the brush is too thick however if it was a thin brush this would be great.

The eyeshadows are lovely quality, very pigmented.
Vanilla and Black gold are two matte shades
Wild Blue, Smokin', Minky, dandy Plum are all shimmer shades
These are such lovely colours too.

The smoulder eyeliner is really good because it can look either very dark or can look blended into the eyeshadow for two different looks.

Over all I really like this and I would recommend it to people because it is a great gift, packaged really nicely too!

Photo's taken on my ipod (sorry not good quality)

Thanks for reading! x

First post of 2014 // book review

Usually we do make up reviews but I have fallen totally and utterly in love with this book! I read it on Christmas Day and I literally couldn't put it down! It was brilliant :)

'The fault in our stars' is the first book I have read of John Greens and I was not disappointed. From the start of the book there is an underlying poignancy interlaced with bitter humour which I absolutely love.

You totally fall in love with the characters, particularly the tumblr famous, Augustus Waters. He is such a realistic, loveable character who you can't help but fall madly in love with!

This book is an emotional roller coaster talking you through a not so typical teenage life. One minute you are laughing and the next you are literally sobbing like a little baby haha. I would seriously recommend this book! My friend, Maria, has just got me another book by John Green called 'Looking for Alaska' which I am so so excited to read!! I will let you know what it is like when I have finished.

Hope you all had a great night last night and I wish you all a happy new year!!

What is your favourite book?
