NYT Audition!!

I have been, without a doubt, the worst blogger ever recently but, in my defence, I have had a very busy week! Anyway, I thought I would tell you about my NYT audition that I had on Tuesday. Hopefully this will put some of you at ease if you are planning on auditioning for NYT in the future.

I did my audition in Sheffield and it started at 10:00. I got there at about half nine to make sure I was in the right place. The audition itself is brilliant. It is so relaxed and friendly! You do a three hour group workshop sort of thing in the morning where you do team building exercises, improvisation ect. Which is all really really fun! The best advice I was given was by the women taking the group who said, don't try and guess what they are looking for, just be yourself.
If you have fun and get as much from the day as possible then it has been a success, getting in would just a great bonus!
You then get some time for dinner before you come back and do your individual monologue. The person watching is one of the people who did the morning workshop and they are so lovely! They ask you a few questions about what you are up to and then you perform. In my first year I was redirected but this year I was asked a few more questions which vary every time. They are not trying to watch you fail though, they want you to do well so don't worry about them!

I find out whether I have got in or not in April so it is a bit of a wait but the trick is to not beat yourself up about it. If you tried your best that is all you can do. This is my second year auditioning so I have been turned down once and, although it is rubbish, you have to pick yourself up, not take it personally and keep trying :D

If you have any audition based questions feel free to give us a tweet (@scoshgirls) or pop us an email and I will try my best to answer for you!

I promise after this week I will be back to more frequent blogging but I have been so busy!
Sorry guys!

Sunday 23rd OOTD

Hey guys, happy Sunday! Next joke... It's Sunday :-(

So yeah this is just gonna be a quick little post on my OOTD, my nan is dragging me shopping (just kidding I love shopping just not on Sundays) lol, so yeah here's what I'm wearing.
This is NOT like an amazing outfit, I'm literally just shoving a jumper & jeans on because that is real Sunday attire.

So I'm wearing my £4 charity shop jumper which is originally from New Look and I love the style.

Pairing this with simple black jeans from Topshop which are my favourite pair of trouses, they are amazing and are like a family member to me.

Then on my feet I have my Dorothy Perkins boots which I got for Christmas and by now you should know I have to have a good pair of boots.

So yeah that's it really, fun fun fun!
Hope you all have a good day! X

Thursday 20th OOTD

Heeeey guys! :-)
Hope your all enjoying your week off if you're off, if not I hope you're enjoying your week!

So this is just going to be a quick little post on my OOTD yesterday. I didn't do much I only went into town to meet one of my friends and have lunch!

Please ignore my very posey pose face. But this is what I wore... I wore my little crop top which is from New Look, if you know me you know how much I love crop tops! (Don't worry I did wear it with a denim shirt over)
And my jeans are white and are from River Island, these are a new addition to my wardrobe. I've always loved white jeans and I think they look beautiful on! I must say they're so much better in summer!

Then on my feet I wore my little ankle boots which are from Store 21 and were an absolute steal!!!! You cannot beat a pair of black little boots!

So that's all I don't have a picture in my coat as I always put my coat on last minute. Hope you enjoyed this post if so, give us a tweet at @scoshgirls let us know and we'll do more!! :-)

Bluebell wood // Colour dash!

Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice offers care and support to children with shortened life expectancies and their families. The money they raise covers many things depending on the families needs included residential stays in the hospice, day care services, end of life support, looking after brothers and sisters  or simply offering friendship and a helping hand. It is such a brilliant cause and I recently found out how easy it was to raise money for them! You can arrange cake sales or sponsored events at school, the work place or at home.

My friend and I have just signed up for their Colour Dash run which takes place on the 3rd of May in Sheffield! It looks like such a fun event and is a creat way to socialise whilst raising money for such a brilliant cause. You don't have to be able to run (trust me, I can't haha) you can walk the 5K and it isn't timed. If you think you might be able to do this have a look on the site for more information:

http://www.bluebellwood.org/

It also has on here information about how to fund raise yourself if you can't get to Sheffield in May!

You can follow Bluebell Wood on twitter @BluebellWoodCH and use the hash tag #ColourDash :)

10 things I learnt from my mother!

My Mum is my best friend and I tell her absolutely everything! Next year I will be moving away from home which will be super scary (the longest I have been away from Mum in 2 days and even then I missed her haha). We have been looking at universities and what not and it made me think of all the things Mum has taught me over the past 17 years that I will always remember!

1) It doesn't matter what other people think, do what makes you happy!
I am extremely grateful to my Mum for all of the support she has given me. She does so much for me to make sure I am doing what makes me happy and backs me up and shows enthusiasm in what ever I decide to tackle!

2) Always puff up the sofa and wash the pots before you go to bed!
If I was given a pound I have had this shouted to me as I quickly try and escape the living room I could pay someone to do this for me every night haha!

3) Work hard!
If you want something you have to work for it and don't give up! (You can tell where I get my philosophical streak from)

4) How to make the best broth on the whole world!
I am afraid I can't say much about this as it is a secret family recipe but take it from me, it tastes like heaven in a bowl!

5) 'we are strong independent women, who don't need no man'
I forgot to mention at the start, my mother is also the queen of sass! Destiny's child would certainly be 'throwing their hands up' at my Mum!

6) Getting top grades is good but not at the expense of happiness (and sanity)
Don't get me wrong, Mum has taught me to work hard on my school work but she has also taught me that you can only do your best and if you do that no one can moan at you. I was once told that 'drama was a hobby and not an actually subject'. I went home and told Mum who laughed and told me that if that was my passion and what I wanted to do with my life I shouldn't let anyone tell me other wise. Doing what you love is the most important thing :)

7) no one is better than you and you are better than no body, we are all equal!
Never think you can't do something because 'you are not good enough' or 'someone is better'. Just give it a go! What is the worst that could happen!

8) 'Girly nights are the best nights'
When I was little Mum and I used to have girly nights where we would watch films and do each others hair and make up and laugh about anything! The other week in fact, I did Mums hair and make up and forced her into watching Sherlock with me! These nights are my favourite nights and I hope that when I come home to visit we will still be doing this!

9) I don't suit eye liner.
Mum is brutally honestly and after about two weeks of watching her pull a face every time I put it on I asked her what the matter was, anyway this is the conclusion we came to haha!

10) Always be brave and remain dignified.
No matter what happens my Mum is incredibly brave!

I hope you guys liked reading this and hopefully my Mum has taught you something as well! I only hope that one day I will be half as good a Mum as she is to me! (Sorry for being soppy guys)
Anyway, got to go, we are having a girly night :D

Ps. It may surprise you to know hat we are not professional models :p

A week with 'Scosh girls' // Jamie!

So last week Abbie and I decided to take pictures of our week to show you guys what sort of stuff we get up to! I wasn't until this week I realised what a boring life I actually lead haha. Anyway, I managed to get some photos for you to have a look at. (All are of scenery and items because this week I also found out how terrible I am at taking 'selfies')

So this picture is taken in my form room at sixth form! Our form tutor is an art teacher so we have the art room as a form room which is great because we get to see people coming in every lunch time and doing arty bits and bobs! This inspired me to enter the house art competition but (another thing I learnt) art is not my forte. Amongst all the beautiful pieces of art work the judges will be marking there is a rubbish felt tip drawing, ah well it's the taking part that counts haha.

Next up, here is a picture of my drama script for AS drama! We are doing a physical theatre piece with extracts from 4.48 Psychosis which is a really challenging dark piece but really fun to choreograph. It is going really well and hopefully it will get me the A I am looking for!

In the art room there is loads of inspirational quotes and I really liked this one! I am not going to waffle about this too much as it will, inevitably, end up being one of my philosophical essays about the meaning of life haha!

This week at Weight Watcher I achieved my silver seven which means I have lost half a stone! This is really exciting and I am so happy. Mum got hers as well and so to treat ourselves we are going to the cinema this week. (Unfortunately we will not be having cheesy nachos there though as it will defeat the purpose haha).

Jess and I went shopping in Manchester this week and had a really lovely day! We did not let the cold weather stop us and we spent a lot of money. I treated myself to my very first MAC lipstick in the shade rebel which is here...

And I also managed to find a 'Front cover' make up set in TKMax for only £7.99. Front Cover powder puff eye shadow is one of my favourites and since they stopped selling it in Boots I haven't been able to find it anywhere so when I say this I had to treat myself! I also got myself a inspiration book called 'Its not how good you are, it's how good you want to be' from Urban Outfitters which is full of cute quotes that I will no doubt be sharing with you guys soon..

Manchester was probably my favourite day this week! It was really lovely. We forgot it was Valentines day though and ended up eating in a candle lit restaurant full of couples but apart from that it was a really good day!

I have been looking at Universities more this week and, if I don't manage to get into drama school, Royal Holloway is my second choice. It is the most beautiful building in the world! (Maybe slightly hyperbolic but seriously, google it!) and, as if it could get any better, there is a room dedicated the frozen yogurt... FROZEN YOGURT! It is like it was made for me haha!

Just because I am on a diet doesn't mean I can't eat amazing food! This whole meal was point free on the 'fuller for longer' diet and it was absolutely gorgeous. Nothing beats a good fillet steak!

Don't worry guys, I promise this is the last one. If you are still reading this, well done and thank you haha! I have decided for my friends birthday I am going to book us train tickets to London and go to the Sherlock Holmes museum. As a huge Sherlock fan this is as much a gift for me as it is for her haha!

So, I hope you enjoyed reading this and looking at my week in pictures! If you guys want to send anyone your pictures to us to feature in 'A week with Scosh girls' tweet them to us at @scoshgirls
Hope you have all had a great week!

I would love to travel the world...

Blog Collab with Megan / BeautifulYou!

Hey hey guys. Today's blog is a collab with the wonderful Megan/BeautifulYou. This is based on a Valentine's Day make-up look, we've also done a post on Megan's blog -
beaut-iful-you.blogspot.co.uk
^Take a look at our post and make sure you give her a follow! :-)
Over to megan! :D

Hello Lovelies. Welcome back to Beautiful You!

As it is Valentine’s Day I thought that I would share with you a make-up look that is quick and simple that can be worn during a day date or in the evening! I decided to go with a smoky brown eye because in my opinion it is a lot softer than a black one and you don't want your make up to be too harsh or over the top on Valentine’s Day! Also I tend to go for more of the brown smoky eyes rather than grey as my eyes are more of a grey colour and I feel that brown compliments them more and this palette has more browns than greys!

To create the smoky eye I used three shades from the Naked 3 Palette, which is amazing, the colours are so pigmented and so blend-able, it is incredibly simple to create a statement eye with this palette! For this look I used an Elf jumbo eyeshadow stick for the base just so I had an even tone to my eyelid to enhance the colours of the eyeshadow! Then I used Dust: the light pink shade, Limit; light brown and Nooner; the darker brown used in the crease to create the depth of the eyes, all from the Naked 3 Palette.

I then paired the simple brown eye with the MAC blusher in Peaches as I wanted to go for a neutral lip and I thought that an orangey toned blush would complement that more than a pink toned blush. For the neutral lip I used Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait with Tanya Burr's Champagne Toast lip-gloss over the top to create that shine!

I will list the rest of the products I used below if you are interested in what foundation (and so on) I am wearing! I hope you liked this look and that it may have inspired you to try something different!

·        Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer (010 Ivory)

What I am doing?!

Jamie, what are you going to do of acting doesn't work out?

Jamie, where is your blog actually going to lead you?

Jamie, how are you going to afford to live in London?

Jamie, well you get the picture..

I am not at all ashamed to say that is answer to these questions is 'I have absolutely no idea'. I used to stress out so much about knowing exactly what I was going to do but it the end it proved to me to be pretty pointless. Don't get me wrong I love a good plan but life has its way of surprising us and, in the words of Harry Potter 'how many times have our plans actually worked, Hermione?' (Ditch hermione and this quote works.. Although this might not be it exactly.. You get the jist). Over the past few years what I am going to do has changed dramatically. I have always wanted to be an actress but how I am going to get there varies. In fact, over the past few weeks and even days this has changed!

My friend messaged me today with her new life plan! She asked 'what do you think?' And to be honest with you my response was about as clear as mud because you have to do what makes you happy at the time. You can't look back with regrets because at the end of the day, at some point, that was exactly what you wanted and every door you open leads you down a different path. That path might be not what you planned but who is to say that path won't be even better!?

I think now is a perfect time to whip out my favourite quote:

If the window opens and the prospect pleases, float through it... That window might never be open again'

If you like the look of something or think you fancy having a go, just do it! Don't worry if it doesn't fit in exactly with 'the plan' just have fun and take risks.
Please note, I am not suggesting you drop out of school on a whim, leave home, jump on a train and live in the tropical rain forests, that might be a little extreme.. But if there is a new club opening up or a chance to apply for something, perhaps a part time job or a university open day.. Why not give it a go?! Remember it is okay to say 'I don't know'. Remember what John Lennon said..

Good luck!

Occasion Make-up!

Hey guys, today I'm going to write about a make-up look which I absolutely LOVE and is perfect for an occasion such as a birthday or clubbing etc!

Sorry for the awkward pose...
Okay so I started off by priming my skin with Rimmel Match Perfection Fix and Perfect Primer, just to prepare my skin for foundation! I believe this is a good primer but if I'm honest I haven't really tried many!

Secondly I use my Bourjois Happy Light foundation in Rose Vanilla, I am loving this foundation! I haven't ever really got on with Bourjois foundation's previously, but this one is literally perfect for me. It has great lasting coverage and on occasions look just like my mac foundation!

I then conceal under my eyes with Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in fair. This is one of my favourite products ever and I will be re-purchasing til the day I die! (sorry for the happy comment there)

I powdered with my N07 Creme Touch powder in Translucent to set my foundation and take the shine away!

Next, I drew my eyebrow's into shape with Maybelline Shape Brow in soft brown and then filled them in with my MUA Pro-Brow kit.

I then put MUA eyeshadow in shy all over my eye and in the inner corner. With a mix of obsessed and tranquil in the corner to add definition and to make the look more smokey!
I lined my eye with my Maybelline gel eyeliner which I looooove! Then use my Max Factor Masterpiece max Mascara which really does make my eyelashes look nice. I did use fake eyelashes which I got from Tenerife so I'm unsure what make they are!

I used my Collection Shimmering Glow bronzer in  Sunkissed to add definition to my face, by using this on my cheek bone.

And finally on my lip I used my new Revlon Colourburst Matte Lip pen in 205 which is a gorgeouuuuuuus colour especially with No7 BB Balm in Blush Coral over the top to add a shine!

Hope you guys liked this, let us know!
@scoshgirls tweet us! :-)

Urban Outfitters home decor

My friend and I were taking today about the Urban Outfiters world maps and I found one on Polyvore! The idea is you scratch off places you have been to visit! I thought I would share it with you guys as it makes for a great gift idea if you know anyone who loves to travel or, if like me you love you travel (and buy yourself presents :p), this is a really cute idea! :D

Scratch Off World Map

February playlist!

Sat on public transport today, I thought to myself... where we i be without music? well, the answer the that is probably making awkward small talk with the person sat next to me and feeling rather uncomfortable. The fact that music prevents these situations makes it pretty important (as you guys know, I socialise when it is a must haha) So here are my top ten tunes for February! Ps. These are not all new songs I'm afraid, just songs that I have recently come across!
(I say top ten but they are in no order because I love them all!)

10- Diane Young by vampire weekend!
This is the first song I have heard by them and it is really good! It is upbeat and fun but has a deeper meaning and we all know I am a sucker for clever songs!

9- Pompeii by Bastille!
I had heard of this band before this month but I hadn't really listened to them until I started revising French Revolution and came across them when researching the storming of the Bastille (nerdy Jamie). I got very distracted by this song and downloaded it straight away!

8- Your guardian angel by The Red jumpsuit apparatus!
I have had this on my iPod forever but I always used to skip it for some reason! Anyway, I listened to it the other day and fell in love. If you chose to listen to this be prepared to get your heart broken...

7- Stay Out by Nina Nesbitt!
Be prepared for this girl to pop up a lot! I absolutely love her. Tis was the first song I heard of hers and it is so much fun and very relatable haha! Definitely give her a listen and keep reading for more of her stuff!

6- Classy girls by The Lumineers!
Another band that is going to be popping up a lot! My friend introduced me to these and I think they are so so good! Really easy to listen to and the lyrics to this song as so sweet. I couldn't help but smile :)

5- The Hardest Part by Nina Nesbitt!
This song is incredible. Her voice is beautiful and you can tell it comes from the heart. It is totally heart breaking but such a beautiful song. Very different to the other two in the list but I absolutely love it!

4- Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray!
I first heard this song on Great Gatsby and it is beautiful. Lana has such an amazing voice and this song is great!

3- Selfies by Nina Nesbitt!
This song has become my most played in the space on 3 days. It is fun and nearly everyone teenage girl can relate to this. The video is brilliant as well. Nina strikes again!

2- The Dead Sea by The Lumineers!
Looooooove this song!! It sounds like it is going to be really depressing but it is actually so sweet and really lovely. Think this band might be one of my new favourites!

1- On top of the world by Imagine Dragons!
How can you be sad when listening to this song?! It is so much fun. Not the best Imagine Dragons song but it makes me smile which is exactly what I need as usually on public transport I am heading to school haha!

So I hope you enjoyed this little insight to my 'recently added' playlist! Give them a listen and let me know what you think! :D

Jamie xxx

Ps again.. So Pps?! Anyway haha.. The picture I have added probably has some deep philosophical meaning but...

... It is always there for me in uncomfortable public transport situations so I guess that will do! Haha :p
