Christmas Day #19! (3rd time lucky haha)

It is showing that I have already posted this but I can't seem to find it anywhere so just Incase I thought I would put it up again! Sorry if this is the second time you have seen this, I just wanted to make sure you got all your Christmas days haha! :D

For some of my friends gifts I am making them truffles! I posted a picture of the recipe on our Instagram (@scoshgirls) but I thought I would write it up on here so you guys could try them! If you give them a go let send us your pictures in a twitter with the hash tag #scoshtruffles and we will post them on here! :D

You will need:
25g unsalted butter
5tbsp of double cream (naughty haha)
350g of white chocolate broken into pieces
You can also, if you are old enough of course, add things like orange liqueur! If you want to do this you will need 1tbsp and you add it during step 2 :)

1) Line a tin with baking paper. Place butter and cream into a saucepan and bring slowly to the boil, stirring constantly! Boil for 1 minute then remove from the heat.

2) add 225g of the chocolate to the cream and stir until melted. Pour into prepared tin and leave to chill for about 2 hours (or until firm)

3) break off pieces of the mixture and roll them into balls then leave them to chill for a little while longer (30 minutes I would say)

4) finally, put the remaking chocolate into a heat proof bowl and set over a sauce pan of gently simmering water until melted! Dip the balls into the chocolate and place onto baking paper and leave to set.

5) you can then out them into cute bags for presents or, of course, eat them all yourself haha!!

Tis recipe makes about 20 truffles, depending on how big you make them!
Enjoy guys :)

I also gave Jess her present today so I can finally blog about it!! Yay :) basically I made her a cookie in a jar. This is a really good present idea for someone who loves baking and you know they love certain foods! I made chocolate and nut oat cookies for Jess and when she has finished she can use it as a memory jar. This is basically where every day for a year you write down a memory and out it in a jar then you can reread them! I thought this was a really sweet idea!

This is a picture of the finished product! Made sure you also write a label so they know what to do haha!

What's your favourite Christmas treat?

Christmas Day #20!

I thought I would show you the presents that people from school got me today! I love them all, thank you so much guys!! I have has such a good last day and I hope that everyone has a lovely Christmas :D

First up is an adorable home made CD with some of my favourite songs on it!! For secret Santa in the form we had to make our own gifts which was really fun to do and people made some really cute, personal things :) Victoria also made me a massive show box full of brownies which were, without a doubt, the best brownies I have ever tasted!!

Next up, Jess used an old copy from a car boot sale of one of my favourite books...

And turned it into a box for me!!

This is such a cute, personal idea and I absolutely love it!! If you wanted to do this for someone, Jess said things got very very messy but it is such a thoughtful idea for any book lovers :D

From my bus friends, I got a lovely body shop set!! It smells of mango and has got loads of products in it! Body shop is one of my favourite brands, it all smells so so good :) I also got some adorable earrings from accessorise and three new nail polishes! I will be trying out the festive red one very soon!!

I got loads of other cute little bits from people and I love them all!! I know it is naughty to open our presents before Christmas Day haha :p

Yesterday was also the talent show and there were some really good acts so a massive well done to everyone who took part it that, you were brilliant!! I also rekindled my love for blackadder yesterday which was great.
Hope you guys all enjoyed your last day (if it was your last day)
Not long now till the big day eek!!

Christmas Day #7!

So as promised guys, here is my meadowhall haul from yesterday. We have such a hilarious time and it was so lovely to see Abbie again. Before I start I have to tell you this story...

So, we were sat on this bench as I had worn inappropriately high shoes and my feet were hurting. Anyway, whilst sat there the cutest lad came over and sat on the bench opposite us! After a bit of 'rock paper scissors' I got the guy. When I say that I mean I awkwardly sat and stared and prayed for a miracle. I am the most awkward person on the planet, ever. Ever.
After sitting on the bench for a good ten minutes and after us both looking at each other throughout this time (possibly because I was staring at him like a weirdo) we decided it was time to leave. As I got up, baring in mind he was looking right at us.... I got my head stuck in a tree. Oh dear..
It was the most hilarious yet embarrassing thing ever and I have decided that I am destined to become a crazy cat lady in the future :p

Anyway, back to what I got..

From 'Lush' I got a small bottle of 'snow fairy'. This stuff smells amazing!! It is like glittery bubblegum. I love it! If you got a big bottle you could get it gift wrapped for £12.50 I think, which would make a really lovely gift if you have a girls friend!

Next I got myself a new book called 'The fault in our stars' which I have heard amazing things about! When I have finished it I will write a review for you guys :)

I got a new pandora charm (my theme is pink, silver and gold) so I got a silver heart with a pink gem in it for £40. I used the Christmas money nan gave me and she is going to wrap it up so I have a 'surprise' for Christmas Day :p

I got my Mum some more treats but, being the supportive mother she is, she keeps viewing the blog so I can not longer post about presents that I get her because that would ruin it!

Finally I got myself a Christmas jumper from next for £30. It is red and white and really festive. I like mine to be a bit too big for me, so I got two sizes up and it is just right! I will put a picture on but because I am on my iPad it will probably be massive so I apologise in advance!

I have now sorted out all my Christmas presents and we are putting up the tree later and making some truffles!! Really excited now :) if you have any presents advice or embarrassing stories let us know on twitter @scoshgirls or give us a comment!

Christmas Day #3!

Your festive treat today is....

Rocky road bars!
These make great gifts for secret Santa or just to have in the house for when guests pop round!

Ingredients:
125g of soft butter
300 of chocolate (this can be dark or milk chocolate. Most recipes will say dark but I prefer milk)
3 tablespoons of golden syrup
300g of rich tea biscuits
100g of mini marshmallow
And whatever else you want to add! You might like white chocolate pieces or bits of your favourite chocolate bar! It is completely up to you :)

Method:
1) melt butter, chocolate and golden syrup in a heavy based saucepan
2) put the biscuits into a freezer bag and crush them up. You are aiming for both crumbs and small pieces of biscuit!
3) fold the biscuit and crumbs into the melted chocolate and add the marshmallows.
4) place into a foil tray. Here you can layer things up so you could add a white chocolate coating if you wanted or something like that!
5) leave to refrigerate for about 2 hours or over night!
6) cut them into bars and sprinkle with icing sugar if you wish!

ENJOY!! :-)

Christmas gifts!

So, I have been Christmas shopping today and got a few gifts for people but I find it so so hard. I. Thought I would post all the presents I buy (apart from Abbie's of course haha) to give you guys some inspiration!
My favourite place for gifts this year is 'Boots' 3 for 2! You can get so much good stuff and it doesn't all have to be beauty things. I got my step dad a Nandos sauce set and another friend a cute jewellery box. If you were looking for beauty things, big brands like soap and glory do cutes cubes full of products and so I got in a few of them as well! They also do a different offer every week on a bigger gift and so I am waiting for the Laura Ashley one to buy my Mum :)
Next up, I have a friend that I don't see that often as she lives away and I find her really hard to shop for. We both have a love for books and next year in York (favourite place) there is a performance of Birdsong which I am studying this year and which is a brilliant book. I have booked tickets for that and we are going to make a weekend of it which I thought was a lovely gift for someone I don't see very often.
I was also thinking of creating a hamper for Mum of all of her favourite bits and bobs. This is a great gift idea because you can spend as much or as little as you want to on someone and it is really personal.
Another one of my friends and I have decided that we are going to make gifts rather than buy them and so I am making her a CD of all of our favourite songs and then filling a jar with the ingredients to make Christmas cookies and instructions. She loves baking and I thought this was a really fun idea.

Christmas shopping on a budget can be really hard but if you look for bargains and use discount vouchers or your NUS card you can make huge savings. Also, think about making personal presents for people which can be just as nice and save a lot of money! You could always suggest doing a secret Santa to cut down on the presents you have to buy or all go out for a Christmas meal somewhere which would be lovely!

1 weeks until we can start the advent countdown! Hope you are all feeling super festive.
I got my Christmas jumper for this year from Next for £30 but there are some lovely ones in Asda that are a lot cheaper. If you guys have any gift ideas or Christmas traditions tweet us @scoshgirls or drop us an email.

Lots of love
