Blog Collab with Megan / BeautifulYou!

Hey hey guys. Today's blog is a collab with the wonderful Megan/BeautifulYou. This is based on a Valentine's Day make-up look, we've also done a post on Megan's blog -
beaut-iful-you.blogspot.co.uk
^Take a look at our post and make sure you give her a follow! :-)
Over to megan! :D

Hello Lovelies. Welcome back to Beautiful You!

As it is Valentine’s Day I thought that I would share with you a make-up look that is quick and simple that can be worn during a day date or in the evening! I decided to go with a smoky brown eye because in my opinion it is a lot softer than a black one and you don't want your make up to be too harsh or over the top on Valentine’s Day! Also I tend to go for more of the brown smoky eyes rather than grey as my eyes are more of a grey colour and I feel that brown compliments them more and this palette has more browns than greys!

To create the smoky eye I used three shades from the Naked 3 Palette, which is amazing, the colours are so pigmented and so blend-able, it is incredibly simple to create a statement eye with this palette! For this look I used an Elf jumbo eyeshadow stick for the base just so I had an even tone to my eyelid to enhance the colours of the eyeshadow! Then I used Dust: the light pink shade, Limit; light brown and Nooner; the darker brown used in the crease to create the depth of the eyes, all from the Naked 3 Palette.

I then paired the simple brown eye with the MAC blusher in Peaches as I wanted to go for a neutral lip and I thought that an orangey toned blush would complement that more than a pink toned blush. For the neutral lip I used Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait with Tanya Burr's Champagne Toast lip-gloss over the top to create that shine!

I will list the rest of the products I used below if you are interested in what foundation (and so on) I am wearing! I hope you liked this look and that it may have inspired you to try something different!

·        Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer (010 Ivory)
·        The Porefessional Pro-Powder

Occasion Make-up!

Hey guys, today I'm going to write about a make-up look which I absolutely LOVE and is perfect for an occasion such as a birthday or clubbing etc!

Sorry for the awkward pose...
Okay so I started off by priming my skin with Rimmel Match Perfection Fix and Perfect Primer, just to prepare my skin for foundation! I believe this is a good primer but if I'm honest I haven't really tried many!

Secondly I use my Bourjois Happy Light foundation in Rose Vanilla, I am loving this foundation! I haven't ever really got on with Bourjois foundation's previously, but this one is literally perfect for me. It has great lasting coverage and on occasions look just like my mac foundation!

I then conceal under my eyes with Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in fair. This is one of my favourite products ever and I will be re-purchasing til the day I die! (sorry for the happy comment there)

I powdered with my N07 Creme Touch powder in Translucent to set my foundation and take the shine away!

Next, I drew my eyebrow's into shape with Maybelline Shape Brow in soft brown and then filled them in with my MUA Pro-Brow kit.

I then put MUA eyeshadow in shy all over my eye and in the inner corner. With a mix of obsessed and tranquil in the corner to add definition and to make the look more smokey!
I lined my eye with my Maybelline gel eyeliner which I looooove! Then use my Max Factor Masterpiece max Mascara which really does make my eyelashes look nice. I did use fake eyelashes which I got from Tenerife so I'm unsure what make they are!

I used my Collection Shimmering Glow bronzer in  Sunkissed to add definition to my face, by using this on my cheek bone.

And finally on my lip I used my new Revlon Colourburst Matte Lip pen in 205 which is a gorgeouuuuuuus colour especially with No7 BB Balm in Blush Coral over the top to add a shine!

Hope you guys liked this, let us know!

Favourite Drugstore Lipstick!

Hey guys, today I'm going to write about my favourite drugstore lipstick! It's always good to have a favourite drugstore lipstick purely because I'm the sort of person who uses it so much and tops up alot through-out the day. Meaning I use my product quite quickly to be paying out for high end every time!

Okay, so my favourite drug store lipstick is .....
Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick
The price of these is £7.99 which is a steal to say how much these stay on!

These in my opinion are a very opaque lip colour with a beautiful range of colours!
2 of my favourite colours being - Pink Brandy and Bewitching Coral.
Pink Brandy is a lovely pink which is a natural looking shade that can be built up too, Bewitching Coral is a pop of bright pink which is in your face but looks lovely!
They last forever too, I top up product but the colour of it does stay on, for instance on New Years Eve I wore Bewitching Coral out and when I got home (slightly intoxicated by alcohol) lol, I took all my make-up off and forgot to take my lipstick off because it doesn't feel heavy and I kinda forgot I had it on.. So anyway I woke up the next day with bright pink lips! So staying power is great!
When these lipsticks are built up they become shiny and rather creamy but if it's just one layer it's not too in your face, which is good!

Soap and Glory Eyes Box // Review

Hey guys, hope you all had a great New Year! Today I'm going to review one of my favourite christmas presents!

The Soap and Glory Eyes Box

This is obviously by Soap and Glory and I got mine from Boots at I think £16.. As it was a present I'm not definite!
Contents:
Thick and Fast super volume mascara
6 Lid Stuff eye shadows in shades - Vanilla, wild Blue, Smokin', Minky, dandy Plum and black gold.
Smoulder kohl waterproof liner
Double ended eyeshadow brush
Has a mirror on the lid which is handy for travelling!

The mascara is a fast selling mascara which I don't find that great, to me the brush is too thick however if it was a thin brush this would be great.

The eyeshadows are lovely quality, very pigmented.
Vanilla and Black gold are two matte shades
Wild Blue, Smokin', Minky, dandy Plum are all shimmer shades
These are such lovely colours too.

The smoulder eyeliner is really good because it can look either very dark or can look blended into the eyeshadow for two different looks.

Over all I really like this and I would recommend it to people because it is a great gift, packaged really nicely too!

Photo's taken on my ipod (sorry not good quality)

Thanks for reading! x

A few 2013 Faves!

Hiya guys, hope you've all had a great christmas! Today I'm going to do a post on my 2013 favourites! :-)
I'm not going to babble on, I'm just going to jump right in there.
So first,

1) Favourite Fragrance - Escada: Cherry in the air.
I have many favourite fragrances but the smell of this is literally gorgeous! I can't tell you what it is precisely but it just smells absolutely beautiful to me. It's also very cheap and would make an excellent gift!

2) Favourite skincare item - St. Ives: naturally clear apricot scrub.
This is my holy grail. O my god. I love this, I've used this for over a year and have not changed it since. It does exactly what it says on the front of the pack which is excellent. And the fact it is apricot just makes it nicer and feels alot less harsh to the skin!

3) Favourite shoes - Chelsea boots / Vans
Now this what out of chelsea boots and vans to me purely because I absolutely love both pairs of shoes, they're just great and both go with any outfit you want!

4) Favourite lipgloss - Benefit ultra plush lip gloss.
These lip glosses' are absolutely wonderful. To me, they feel alot less sticky than other ones and the colour range is lovely!

5) Favourite jewellry - Midi rings.
My favourite is definitely the midi ring. These are such a contemporary idea so different and so lovely.

6) Favourite body stuff brand - Ted baker.
Most people would say Soap and Glory which I agree is AMAZING however I really am enjoying Ted Baker and I've also reached more towards this! Plus all of the Ted Baker bags are beautifully created and look great!

7) Favourite tv episode - Made in Chelsea.
I'm a fanatic when it comes to MIC, I got the box set last christmas and I believe it has been frequently a great, fun series to watch!

8) Favourite nail varnish - Barry M: blood orange.
This is a red colour which is dark! This looks awesome on but the only downside is the name .... Blood :-|

They're just a few of my favourites!:-)
Hope you enjoyed it!

Christmas Day #23!

Hey guys, today I'm going to do a make-up post on best christmas make-up products from Max Factor - The reason I'm doing Max Factor is because personally I find this a great brand with affordable prices and I know it's a pretty popular brand.

Foundation
Face finity all day flawless 3 in 1 Foundation which is a great coverage foundation and also contains a primer which cuts out a couple of minutes of your daily routine.

Concealer
Face panstick which is a brilliant concealer foundation stick, this is great coverage to cover up any shininess or any blemishes.

Eyeshadow
Wild shadow pot - Pale Pebble, which is a lovely skin tone colour to spread all over the lid.
Wild shadow pot - Burnt Bark, which is a brown which I'd use in the corner to make the look more intense.

Eyeliner
Masterpeice glide & define liquid eyeliner to create a catflick which makes the look very classy and feline.

Lipstick
Colour elixr lipstick - Ruby tuesday which is a lovely red colour to make the look even classier and bright for christmas day.

Blusher
Flawless perfection blusher - Classic Rose, to put a lovely warm colour on the cheeks on a cold winter day!

What drugstore make-up item would you say is a great christmas product? Tweet us at @scoshgirls to let us know!

Favourite Drug Store Foundation!

Hey guys! Today I'm going to do my favourite drug store foundation!
Basically a cheap foundation you can find in Boots / Superdrug without delving into luxury brands.

My favourite drug store has to be the:
Revlon Colorstay Foundation - combination to oily skin - 150 buff (my shade)

This is what the packaging of mine looks like:

Now with research on this the packaging has changed. And I'm hoping not the actual product has, if it has I doubt it will be very much, the point I have noticed is the one (above) is the one I own has an SPF 15 whereas the newer one has SPF 6.
The recent packaging looks like this:

So anyway, this foundation is medium - full coverage so it is very buildable which is great also it is oil-free. This goes onto the skin pretty well, it is rather thick so you are best using a stippling/foundation brush. I use the expert face brush because I think it works best.
This is very good coverage, I have a few break outs every now and again but I have plenty of freckles I like to cover up and this does a pretty good job of doing it. This is such a good colour aswell, I do think that the colours are really accurate and you will find one for your skin tone.

Boots - £12.49! Tried a few more different drugstore and this by far is my favourite.
The only con to this is it isn't a pump action one, it's one you have to pour out meaning you could either get too much product or too less. So the only thing I'd change is the pump!

Abbie!

Christmas Day #18!

Hey guys, hope you're all well.
I'm going to be giving you my opinion on the MUA Undress Me too Palette today, before I start, MUA stands for make up academy and this is Superdrug's own brand.

So without rambling on this is what the palette looks like:

So like I said, it's from Superdrug you may possibly find the stand at your local one or you can order offline on www.MUAstore.co.uk.This is priced at £4 which I find an excellent price!

This palette is made up of skin-toned pearly colours, some bronze shimmer shades and some darker tones to transform the look from day to night. I think this palette is not only an amazing price for the quality but the pigment is great too. They are lasting to me (I use an eye base too) and are great to transform your look. I use my palette everyday!

For work I go for a natural look so I'd use - shy (natural ish shimmery bright shade) all of the lid and a tiny bit in the tear duct to make my eyes look bigger and more awake. Then I'd use Lavish (dark brown matte shade) or Fiery (bronze shimmery colour) depending on how I'm feeling if I'm honest, I alternate between the two to put in the crease to add abit more definition .I do love this palette especially the matte black shade it comes with which is great to do eyeliner above or below the waterlines of your eye to then smoke it out or make a flick for a dramatic look. Definitely recommend for the price!

Christmas Day #14!

Hey guys! So for day 14 I have decided to write about my Christmas wish list

Number one is a tartan scarf! I have seen the most adorable one from Primark and

it is only £4. My friend and fellow blogger, Jess (see the bottom of this post

for a link to her blog) and it looks so good. Tartan is really in at the minute

and looks really good teamed up with a fur jacket or even a leather jacket!
I also really want a new hair dryer and I have seen a really good one from

Remington called Pro Ionic that is £26.99. It was recommended in DARE magazine

under ‘how to keep your hair glossy’ and apparently has ionic conditioning and

ceramic tourmaline grill for frizz-free shine and anti-static hair. My hair goes

really dry and frizzy so this is perfect for me.

As you guys know I am a sucker for glittery, creamy eye shadows and the Bourjois

Colour Edition cream eye shadows come in really wearable soft-golden nudes which

are my favourite colours to wear on my eyes. They are £6.99 and for the part

season also come in silver and purples! If you use a dreamy eye shadow I would

recommend you using fingertips as it means that it doesn’t get stuck to the brush

and, also, heat from your finger tips makes it easier to glide on smoothly

My favourite skin scrub in Soap and Glory’s ‘face, soap and clarity’ which I

absolutely swear by and with all the soap and glory deals on in Boots at the

minute it is hard to not have at least on product on my wish list! It is really

exfoliating and makes my skin so much better (getting rid of horrible teenage

spots and black heads). If you use this though make you get a good moisturiser so

your face doesn’t get all dried out!
Finally The Body Shop chocomania body butter! This stuff smells incredible and

is so moisturising. It is £13 which I can’t really justify for a body butter but

Christmas is a time to treat yourself after all haha! You can get really nice

sets from body shop as well with different fragrances in. all of them smell

delicious

Hope you guys enjoyed this and hopefully some of these items will be popping up

in my Christmas haul if I am lucky!

TAG beauty talk!

My friend Jess has started a tag with a few questions on beauty and stuff so I thought I would give it a go :) make sure you give her a follow:

What products have stood out for you this year?
Um.. I think for me this has been the year of the primer! Like you will know if you read my last post I never used it before but now I wouldn't be without it! At the minute I am using Laura Geller's Spackle which I love. It make my skin so much smoother providing great base for my foundation :D

What make up product would you recommend for young girls or people who are just starting to get into beauty?
I would say get yourself a good foundation. I wear Rimmel match perfection which I love. It has brilliant coverage and literally is my match perfection! It is greater if you are younger or new to make up because it is a cheaper high street brand that I think it even better than some really expensive brands :) definitely give it a go!

Favourite high street and high end beauty brand?
Erm.. Probably Rimmels for high street but I am not sure about my favourite high end as I like so many. I wear lots of Benefit make up but I think they can be really touch and go. I would have to go with MAC or Estée Lauder!

Most disappoint product you have tried...
Benetint probably. I only got a sample of this product but I found it really hard to apply evenly and it made my skin really sore and spotty! :/

A beauty item you use every day...
Benefits Fake up! I have the worst dark circles and this product has been my knight in shiny packaging. I absolutely love it :) it is not heavy under my eyes and leaves me looking so much more awake. It is really easy to apply as well!

What are your essentials for winter?
Ooh erm, a good red lipgloss is an absolute must for me! I also like to get myself a pair of false lashes from Illamasqua for parties. I have blue eyes so I like to wear golden eye shadows so I have to make sure I am stocked up over winter (MAC bare study is really nice). I love winter cos I make so much more of an effort with make up and you can make yourself look so festive! :D

What is your favourite product for a dramatic party look?
I like Maybellines black gel eye line because it is so was to apply! It is in my every day bag but over Christmas I tend to wear more of it and experiment with different looks. Dark coloured lips are always a must for dramatic effect and, if you don't over do it, glitter eye liners can look really nice :)

What's on your Christmas wish list (beauty wise)?
I have asked for MAC stuff in general and also I love Estée Lauder mascara so hopefully Santa will bring me on of those :) Benefit are doing really cute Christmas box sets which have some good products in so that would be nice as well :D

Thank you for reading guys! If you want to do this make sure you tag #TAGbeautytalk on Instagram or twitter with a link!! And check out Jess's beauty blog for more inspiration and tips!

Christmas Day #13!

Trust me to get the unlucky number 13! dun dun DUN!

My post today will be on some of my 3 favourite winter jumpers! I say winter, as I'm not very Christmassy as a matter of fact I am a Scrooge without the beard...
That escalated rather quickly. So yes, my 3 favourite jumpers for this lovely, cold cold cold season!!
Apologises for the lighting on this photo :-| stupid light bulbs.

1) The first jumper is a white wooly one, which is so cute and warm. The brilliant thing about this jumper is that it literally goes with anything you want to wear!
I'd team this jumper up with a black skater skirt with a belt around the waist, some cable knit chunky black tights, black wedged trainers, a faux leather jacket and a statement necklace!
Jumper from New Look.

2) The second jumper is black and white swirly pattern. This is such a lovely detail to this and is oversized as well which looks extra great!
I'd put this with black disco pants / light joni jeans, a pair of firetrap flatforms and a black leather jacket!
Jumper also from New Look.

3) The third and final jumper is a black and red tartan style. This is more of a top than a jumper I have to say it's not the thickest of things! lol, however this is so cute especially as everybody is loving tartan at the minute.
I'd put this with a pair of black disco pants, chelsea boots and a great big parka! (because you can't beat a good old parka :-))
Top / Thin jumper from Primark.

Hope you enjoyed this post if so, let us know so we can do more of them! :D

Favourite Youtuber of all time!

Hey guys, it's Abbie and I'm here to tell you today what my favourite youtuber is. I love so many youtubers however this is so easy as there is only one who is as amazing as she is!

The one and only Zoella / moreZoella.
Zoella is a down to earth girl who lives in the UK and creates really good videos. Her videos are oober amazing because she's honest about things and she's absolutely stunning too!!

Main channel Zoella - This channel is full of make up routines, hauls, favourite videos and videos starring other youtubers! Her hauls are awesome purely because she ALWAYS has a bag of goodies from Boots (where I work) so you go girl!

Second channel moreZoella - This channel is more about her day-to-day life and is so cool to watch how someone else lives.... that might just be me who finds it fun but hey! And she's currently doing her Vlogmas (making a video each day up until Xmas) and they're so fun to watch!

:-)

I love alot of other youtubers - (Pointlessblog, MarcusButler, Sprinkleofglitter, Tanyaburr, Jimchapman, thatcherJoe, Troyesivan, Tyleroakley, Alexalosey, Casparlee, Jacksgap, funforLouis, madisenrosebeauty1, Fleurdeforce, makeupbyMandy24, Laurencurtis, Chloemorello, Shaaanxo.

Christmas Day #9!

My favourite clothes shop blog today!
Rather boring but seriously, if you're looking for new places to shop then take a look at these sights!! :-)

I'm one of the biggest shoppers ever, I'm just addicted and my way of not online shopping tonight will be to write about them instead lol.

Topshop: I love topshop because there's so many lovely clothes and they are also brilliant quality! however I hate this place because everyone wears the same thing which is fair enough but not cool!

Zara: I love Zara for everything! I think Zara has really sophisticated items of clothing and they're literally so cute especially to buy a full outfit from here.

Boohoo: Cannot go wrong with good priced items of clothing. Boohoo has plenty of bargains which is so great as for the price of one item from (Zara or topshop) you could buy 2 at Boohoo.

New Look: again, good priced clothing which is amazing! This is also a place where you will end up wearing the exact same outfit as someone else which is a pain but there you go!

NastyGal: I love NastyGal so much but it's a shame some of the full priced items are rather expensive for what they are/equivalents in other places. This place is unique and amazing!

Asos: Asos is amazing. That is all... Well it's not, ha this place has brand names to high street. which means you can either find bargains or slightly expensive stuff. (The boots from here are TOP NOTCH!!!)

Tweet us @scoshgirls with your favourite shops! :D

My favourite books!

My friend asked me the other day what I would like for Christmas. Now most people really struggle with saying what they want for Christmas when they are but under such pressure, myself on the other hand, would also chose a book. They are without a doubt one of my favourite things ever!!

For any fellow book lovers out there I decided to write a list of my favourite books or book series!
Of course, no list would be even worth looking at if it didn't include the Harry Potter series. They were my childhood and are such amazing books. The story line is incredible and if you haven't read them I would seriously give them a go! The first two or three are slightly childish but of course that is who they were aimed at. As you get further into the series though, it becomes darken and makes for a brilliant read!
Another firm favourite of mine is 'the hundred year old man that climb out of a window and disappeared' (yes, that really is the title) it is such a clever book that has you hooked from the beginning. I really loved it!
Next up, I really like 'The perks of being a wallflower' that has recently been made into a film. It is full of inspiring quotes and is a really touching short read (I read it in a day) that picks on some really quite serious themes!
'Birdsong' is a book that I am studying at sixth form at the minute and it is such a beautifully poignant book that focuses on the world. It shows the effects of war upon people are is a really heartbreaking yet truly amazing read. It is another book that you have to bear with until you get into it and maybe even have to read through twice to fully understand but I would definitely recommend it :) another book I have studied at school (now don't laugh) is 'Lord of the flies'. I found this book completely fascinating and it has so many underlying themes. If you were looking for a book that was a romance or something you didn't really have to think about I would recommend 'one day' or something similar but this is the perfect book if you want to analyse characters and situations.
My favourite author at the minute is Philippa Gregory who is the author of many historical fictions. I am a complete sucker for history and I am reading the cousins was series at the minute. It is amazing and although not 100% historically accurate, all of the books have I read by her have been amazing, the cousins war being my favourites. Of course, I am biased though as I absolutely love the War of the roses and Richard the third ect. :p

I know this is a fairly nerdy post but I hope that some of you are 'fan girls' like myself haha. Give me a tweet and let me know your favourite book and why or which fandoms you belong to!

My favourite electrical hair item!

Hello! This is just a short blog on my favourite Hair item which is electrical!

My all time favourite is.......
Nicky Clarke Desired Salon Professional Hair Straightener

Info:

  • 230c top temperature
  • Variable heat settings – adjust the temperature to suit your hair type
  • Auto shut off after 60 mins!

These are the product I always reach for. For curls, waves and straightening.
I literally love these and they do everything so well. These literally take 2 minutes to heat up too which is soooo good if you're in a rush or you're impatient (like me) I've had mine for 3 years+ and I love these!
I've tried GHD's and they to me, are alot worse than these. They ruin your hair more and don't hold as well as these.
£31.99 at boots at the minute saving £50.00
AMAZING XMAS PRESENT!
