What I am doing?!

Jamie, what are you going to do of acting doesn't work out?

Jamie, where is your blog actually going to lead you?

Jamie, how are you going to afford to live in London?

Jamie, well you get the picture..

I am not at all ashamed to say that is answer to these questions is 'I have absolutely no idea'. I used to stress out so much about knowing exactly what I was going to do but it the end it proved to me to be pretty pointless. Don't get me wrong I love a good plan but life has its way of surprising us and, in the words of Harry Potter 'how many times have our plans actually worked, Hermione?' (Ditch hermione and this quote works.. Although this might not be it exactly.. You get the jist). Over the past few years what I am going to do has changed dramatically. I have always wanted to be an actress but how I am going to get there varies. In fact, over the past few weeks and even days this has changed!

My friend messaged me today with her new life plan! She asked 'what do you think?' And to be honest with you my response was about as clear as mud because you have to do what makes you happy at the time. You can't look back with regrets because at the end of the day, at some point, that was exactly what you wanted and every door you open leads you down a different path. That path might be not what you planned but who is to say that path won't be even better!?

I think now is a perfect time to whip out my favourite quote:

If the window opens and the prospect pleases, float through it... That window might never be open again'

If you like the look of something or think you fancy having a go, just do it! Don't worry if it doesn't fit in exactly with 'the plan' just have fun and take risks.
Please note, I am not suggesting you drop out of school on a whim, leave home, jump on a train and live in the tropical rain forests, that might be a little extreme.. But if there is a new club opening up or a chance to apply for something, perhaps a part time job or a university open day.. Why not give it a go?! Remember it is okay to say 'I don't know'. Remember what John Lennon said..

Good luck!

February playlist!

Sat on public transport today, I thought to myself... where we i be without music? well, the answer the that is probably making awkward small talk with the person sat next to me and feeling rather uncomfortable. The fact that music prevents these situations makes it pretty important (as you guys know, I socialise when it is a must haha) So here are my top ten tunes for February! Ps. These are not all new songs I'm afraid, just songs that I have recently come across!
(I say top ten but they are in no order because I love them all!)

10- Diane Young by vampire weekend!
This is the first song I have heard by them and it is really good! It is upbeat and fun but has a deeper meaning and we all know I am a sucker for clever songs!

9- Pompeii by Bastille!
I had heard of this band before this month but I hadn't really listened to them until I started revising French Revolution and came across them when researching the storming of the Bastille (nerdy Jamie). I got very distracted by this song and downloaded it straight away!

8- Your guardian angel by The Red jumpsuit apparatus!
I have had this on my iPod forever but I always used to skip it for some reason! Anyway, I listened to it the other day and fell in love. If you chose to listen to this be prepared to get your heart broken...

7- Stay Out by Nina Nesbitt!
Be prepared for this girl to pop up a lot! I absolutely love her. Tis was the first song I heard of hers and it is so much fun and very relatable haha! Definitely give her a listen and keep reading for more of her stuff!

6- Classy girls by The Lumineers!
Another band that is going to be popping up a lot! My friend introduced me to these and I think they are so so good! Really easy to listen to and the lyrics to this song as so sweet. I couldn't help but smile :)

5- The Hardest Part by Nina Nesbitt!
This song is incredible. Her voice is beautiful and you can tell it comes from the heart. It is totally heart breaking but such a beautiful song. Very different to the other two in the list but I absolutely love it!

4- Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray!
I first heard this song on Great Gatsby and it is beautiful. Lana has such an amazing voice and this song is great!

3- Selfies by Nina Nesbitt!
This song has become my most played in the space on 3 days. It is fun and nearly everyone teenage girl can relate to this. The video is brilliant as well. Nina strikes again!

2- The Dead Sea by The Lumineers!
Looooooove this song!! It sounds like it is going to be really depressing but it is actually so sweet and really lovely. Think this band might be one of my new favourites!

1- On top of the world by Imagine Dragons!
How can you be sad when listening to this song?! It is so much fun. Not the best Imagine Dragons song but it makes me smile which is exactly what I need as usually on public transport I am heading to school haha!

So I hope you enjoyed this little insight to my 'recently added' playlist! Give them a listen and let me know what you think! :D

Ps again.. So Pps?! Anyway haha.. The picture I have added probably has some deep philosophical meaning but...

... It is always there for me in uncomfortable public transport situations so I guess that will do! Haha :p

Christmas Day #19! (3rd time lucky haha)

It is showing that I have already posted this but I can't seem to find it anywhere so just Incase I thought I would put it up again! Sorry if this is the second time you have seen this, I just wanted to make sure you got all your Christmas days haha! :D

For some of my friends gifts I am making them truffles! I posted a picture of the recipe on our Instagram (@scoshgirls) but I thought I would write it up on here so you guys could try them! If you give them a go let send us your pictures in a twitter with the hash tag #scoshtruffles and we will post them on here! :D

You will need:
25g unsalted butter
5tbsp of double cream (naughty haha)
350g of white chocolate broken into pieces
You can also, if you are old enough of course, add things like orange liqueur! If you want to do this you will need 1tbsp and you add it during step 2 :)

1) Line a tin with baking paper. Place butter and cream into a saucepan and bring slowly to the boil, stirring constantly! Boil for 1 minute then remove from the heat.

2) add 225g of the chocolate to the cream and stir until melted. Pour into prepared tin and leave to chill for about 2 hours (or until firm)

3) break off pieces of the mixture and roll them into balls then leave them to chill for a little while longer (30 minutes I would say)

4) finally, put the remaking chocolate into a heat proof bowl and set over a sauce pan of gently simmering water until melted! Dip the balls into the chocolate and place onto baking paper and leave to set.

5) you can then out them into cute bags for presents or, of course, eat them all yourself haha!!

Tis recipe makes about 20 truffles, depending on how big you make them!
Enjoy guys :)

I also gave Jess her present today so I can finally blog about it!! Yay :) basically I made her a cookie in a jar. This is a really good present idea for someone who loves baking and you know they love certain foods! I made chocolate and nut oat cookies for Jess and when she has finished she can use it as a memory jar. This is basically where every day for a year you write down a memory and out it in a jar then you can reread them! I thought this was a really sweet idea!

This is a picture of the finished product! Made sure you also write a label so they know what to do haha!

What's your favourite Christmas treat?

Throwing an outfit together!

so last night we were asked on twitter to write a post about how to whip up an outfit when you are in a rush, which was absolutely perfect for me today! I leave the house at 7:30 in the morning and I woke up at 7:10 so things were pretty rushed :p last year I could just whip on my uniform and leave but now I am in sixth form I have to chose my own outfits. Whenever I am in a rush I try and wear statement pieces so I don't have to worry about accessories or doing OTT make up!

Today I wore a shirt that i got from Zara and teamed it up with a plain maroon skirt from New Look and a pair of boots. Normally this outfit would be really boring but because the shirt is so colourful and vintage it worked!

As a, sixth former that very often has to get ready in a rush, making sure that my outfits look good is really important to me! I tend to go for bold patterns which i can then team with something plain. I also end up wearing the same pair of black trousers from Next but if you team this up with a different top and vary the shoes it can completely change your whole look!
If I am not at school I have lots of warm winter jumpers that I can just throw on and look good with any pair of jeans. This is so simple and looks so cute and christmasy :) take a look at my previous post to have a look at my christmas jumper this year.

We had a look in Abbie's wardrobe to find her statement pieces and what she would wear if she was in a rush or had to throw an outfit together! This is what we found:

A dress is perfect because you only have to put on one item and don't have to worry about finding something to go with it! This one is from New Look and looks really good with tights. Abbie usually wears it with a pair of boots like these which were from Matalan:

My favourite Christmasy item we found was this jumper from New Look. It is really patterned and so could just be worn with a pair of jeans and would still look really good and like you have made more of an effort than you actually have haha!

Finally, a jump suit is another great item if you are in a rush! Just like a dress it is only the one item and can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion!
This one is from Misguided and looks great with a pair of black heels :)

I hope that you enjoyed this post!
ooh, I was also talking about the musical I auditioned for the other week and I got Frenchie (we are doing Grease) so so happy!! We also have just started an instagram @scoshgirls so give us a follow!!
Hope you are all alright, thank you for reading!
